The children held a memorial dinner, lit a candle, and remembered their dead relatives. They agreed to support the ancient custom of the Belarusian people and to continue this dinner in their families.
May it unite all our souls in one endeavor: remember the customs and rites of our ancestors. And the candles lit and placed on the windows, as is done all over the world, will testify to our memory and respect for all: adults, babies, sisters, brothers, parents and strangers…

Orthodox traditions of my family
Orthodox traditions of my family
Each family has its own traditions that pass from one generation to another. These traditions bring the family together, make it truly strong. Celebrating holidays in the family circle - what could be better! All holidays are good in their own way. But what unites them is that they carry the energy of goodness, spiritual purity, the beauty of a good mood and mutual understanding between people. The brightest holiday is Easter. It happens in the spring and therefore we all have a spring mood. Great Lent ends. We paint eggs, apply beautiful patterns to them and exchange them with family and friends. We go to visit, eat the blessed Easter. The soul is joyful and bright, and everyone tries to smile at each other. An exhibition-installation “The Great Traditions of the Belarusian People” was arranged at the school museum, where the main symbols of the holiday are presented: Easter eggs, Easter cake. Easter eggs - An old custom to paint eggs for Easter appeared in memory of the miracle of Mary Magdalene. She appeared to the emperor Tiberius and told him that Christ had risen. As a gift, the woman brought an ordinary chicken egg as a symbol of life. Tiberius did not believe and declared: “Rather, the egg will turn red, than the dead man will come to life!” And right there in front of the ruler, the egg donated by Mary turned red. Shocked Tiberius exclaimed: “Truly Christ has risen!” Since then, believers on Easter greet each other just like this: "Christ is risen!" - "Truly risen!" In the old days in Russia, this tradition also had practical significance: during the 40 days of Lent, believers refused to eat food, including eggs. To prevent eggs from rotting, they were painted with onion husks. So they were stored until Easter and differed in color from raw eggs. And on the holiday itself, it was decided to give each other not only colored eggs of birds, but also wooden, carved and bone painted eggs, decorated in the most amazing ways. Specially for the holiday, grains of oats or wheat are grown on a large dish or tray to beautifully lay painted eggs. Easter cake - Do you know why they bake Easter cake for Easter?Christ after the Resurrection came to the disciples during their meals. In the tabernacle of Moses there was a special table of unleavened bread offerings, where the disciples carried yeast bread along with a peaceful sacrifice of thanksgiving for Christ. So the tradition appeared to leave artos in the church for Easter (liturgical bread used in Orthodox worship for Easter). And in every family they began to bake their bread for Christ in the form of an Easter cake, adding nuts and raisins to it. Putting Easter cake on the Easter table, we believe that the risen Christ.tata is invisibly present with us. Keep it up!
